Verna Popo is Of Counsel with The Barrister Firm, P.A., where she helps people in Miami, West Palm Beach and Broward County find effective debt relief through consumer bankruptcy protection under Chapter 7 and Chapter 13.  Ms. Popo has been responsible for managing all aspects of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases for her clients, including preparing all necessary petitions, schedules, pleadings, orders, and amended and modified plans, as well as working closely with clients from the initial review of documents to preparing clients for 341 Meetings of Creditors and obtaining a discharge of debt.

Ms. Popo also helps people who have become disabled from working to obtain their social security disability benefits through the daunting and difficult bureaucratic system of the Social Security Administration.   Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Popo worked for several years as an Attorney-Adviser for the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR) in Miami. As an attorney for ODAR, Ms. Popo dealt with a wide variety of social security disability issues and worked closely with the Administrative Law Judges responsible for hearing appeals from application denials. She is also an experienced litigator who has experience in all aspects of litigation from depositions and discovery to law and motion practice to settlement negotiations, mediation, and trials.

Ms. Popo is also available to assist clients who have been hurt in an auto accident receive navigate through the personal injury protection laws and insure that they receive the maximum benefit under the law for their injuries.  She also assists healthcare providers in making sure that the insurance carriers pay for the services that they provide to accident victims as required by the law.
