Mrs. Santiago is Of Counsel for The Barrister Firm and concentrates her practice in criminal defense, foreclosure defense and family law. Mrs. Santiago began her career as a probation officer which provided her first look into the justice system and her admiration for the criminal field of law.  This experience was instrumental in her decision to pursue a law school education.  Mrs. Santiago’s criminal practice is centered in the Pre-Trial, Trial, and Post-Conviction areas of criminal law. The matters handled include Domestic Violence, Narcotics Offenses, Violent Offenses, Sexual Offenses, and 3.850/3.800 motions.

Formerly a Family Case Manager and subsequently a Law Clerk/Staff Attorney assigned to the family division, both for the 15th Judicial Circuit, Mrs. Santiago has over a decade of experience in family and matrimonial related issues.  Mrs. Santiago’s extensive background in family related matters took flight through a spear-heading position as a Court Coordinator for the 15th Judicial Circuit of Florida’s juvenile delinquency, juvenile dependency, and family divisions of the court (currently designated by the Florida Supreme Court as the Unified Family Court).  She broadened that knowledge base as a Certified Legal Intern with the Florida Attorney General’s Children’s Legal Services division.  Mrs. Santiago’s family practice is concentrated in the Dissolution of Marriage, Child Support, Time-sharing, and Adoption areas of family law.

Mrs. Santiago, once employed by one of the largest Plaintiff’s firms in the State, found a more rewarding sense of satisfaction in assisting Home Owners in the defense – against the “Big Banks” – of their most prized possession and investment, their home.  Mrs. Santiago, having worn both “hats”, has over four years experience and is proficient in the foreclosure process from start to finish.  Mrs. Santiago has similarly litigated a myriad of other real estate matters including Landlord/Tenant (i.e. eviction) and Quiet Title causes of action.

Mrs. Santiago is a Florida native and mother of four, she has served on various executive boards related to youth activities in her city of residence.  Her community involvement and service expands throughout the state’s southern region and over the past 16 years, through her membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where she currently serves on the Executive Board of her local chapter.

Mrs. Santiago welcomes the opportunity to serve your needs in the areas of Criminal Defense, Foreclosure Defense, and Family and Matrimonial Law.
